The performer will be forced to constantly crank the instrument to hear any sound or see an image. Churning out memories one turn at a time. A rotary encoder or continuos potentiometer will be used to determine input from the crank. Simple switches will activate note pitch. There is the possibility of including an FSR to regulate note length.
The design of the memoryphone will be based on a combination of the early 20th century organ grinder and the lumiere film camera. I will use a crank to drive the velocity of each note. A number of buttons on top of the instrument to determine pitch. Video will also be played by turning the crank. |
